Alan welcomes Woolfox Wind Farm rejection
15 December 2015
Alan has welcomed the news that a large-scale wind farm in Rutland has been rejected.
An application to erect nine turbines at the Woolfox site near Clipsham and Stretton in Rutland was rejected by councillors at a special meeting in Oakham on Thursday evening (10th December).
Alan had campaigned strongly against the application since it was first submitted, and has supported the local opposition group ‘Stop Woolfox Wind Farm’. He also called for a blimp to be flown at the site to demonstrate the height of the turbines and the visual impact they would have, which the applicant belatedly agreed to do.
Alan said: ‘This is the right decision. These turbines were simply wrong for Rutland and would have been a huge blot on the landscape. I have always strongly opposed this application and am glad that the clear local opposition has been listened to.’
